On Saturday, May 24, 2008, UWC-USA celebrated its 25th graduation. The day was sunny and breezy and the ceremony was beautiful. The student speaker Jenny Thapa (Nepal) spoke to everyone about growing up in a conflict zone and coming to the realization that she must develop the tools to wage war without weapons or violence. She credited the UWC with helping her to begin developing those skills.
The graduation speaker was Eboo Patel, Executive Director of the Interfaith Youth Core. Eboo spoke about music and a harmony of instrumentation as a metaphor for how we must all learn to integrate and work together towards peace.
